Hockey Clothing
The market for ice hockey in North America is a reflection of this. The sport has also grown in popularity throughout the world in part due to the advent of synthetic-ice.
Goalie pants feature more padded pelvic, thigh and hip pads to guard against. Goalie jocks are also referred to as jills have less protection from groins and have more padding in the front of their cup.
Apparel
Hockey players must wear protective gear because the sport involves high-speed skating on hard surfaces. Players often collide and, sometimes, even intentionally. Apart from ice skating sticks and ice skates, the typical player's safety gear includes helmets (with an visor or full face mask), shoulder pads and chest protector, elbow pads mouth guards, gloves, heavily padded shorts (also called hockey pants or jock athletic protection for males, and a jockstrap, or a "jill" for females) and a pelvic protector (known as a girdle for women) and thigh tailbone, hip and shin pads. A neck protector might also be worn.
In recent times, technology has been used to reduce the weight of the ice hockey equipment and make it more functional. For example, many companies now use carbon composites for stick shafts, and specialized foam is available to make shoulder pads more lightweight without harming protection. Other enhancements include 3D scanning that can accurately model a player's body proportions to ensure that elbow, knee and shin pads are specifically designed to fit the player.
As more people become acquainted with the sport, and artificial ice surfaces are constructed all over the world to allow players to play in areas with no natural ice, the market for hockey will continue to grow. In addition there has been a growth in the number of female players, which is a positive for market growth.

Jerseys
Jerseys are the uniforms worn by hockey players. They are typically made from more durable fabrics than the jerseys used in other sports, and have sleeves that are long. The jerseys are adorned with the team logo on front, the last name of the player on the top of the back, and a number from zero to 100. Some jerseys also feature the letters "C" and an "A" on them, representing the team's captain and alternate captain.
There are two types of NHL jerseys, authentic and replica. Genuine jerseys feature the same design and are made from the same material. Replica jerseys are constructed from different (and usually cheaper) materials, and may not have the same design as the authentic jerseys.
Most NHL teams have three or four sets of jerseys worn during games, and they also have some special sets for things like heritage designs and charity events. Each jersey includes an inner back loop of fabric, referred to"fight strap "fight strap" that must be attached to the pants of the player in order to keep the jersey from being pulled over their head during a game.
The Authentic Pro is the top-tier jersey available from the NHL, and it is constructed from high-performance fabrics with tackle twill multilayered 3D embroidery, and reinforced stitching. It comes in gender-neutral and feminine styles. The Authentic Premier is a version of the Authentic Pro that is designed to imitate the appearance of jerseys worn by players on the playing field.
Shirts
A team's sweaters--also called jerseys--are their most well-known piece clothing. They display the team's primary logo on the front, and usually include a second logo on the shoulders. The name of the player is displayed on the back of the shirt, and the player's number is located below it, ranging from 0 to 99. Team captains wear an uppercase "C" above and to the right of their jersey's name, while two other players who are designated as alternate captains wear an "A" on theirs.
Most NHL teams have an alternate sweater that is worn on special occasions such as the Winter Classic and Stadium Series. Many teams also have a throwback or retro alternative for their home jerseys. Third-sweater sweaters are an excellent way for teams to experiment and could serve as a basis for their primary sweaters.
The Vancouver Canucks have a beautiful sweater that manages to blend traditional and modern style. The navy and black jerseys are striking, making them easy to spot on the ice. White stripes add contrast. The Canucks have a lovely font on the numbers and names, which adds to the neat appearance of the jersey.
